Wildlife Internship Programme, 2019 ( M.Sc, Wildlife Biology students) for A.V.C.College (Autonomous),
Mannampandal, Mayiladuthurai from 5th-7th August 2019… organized by Universal Eco Foundation Activities like, herpetofauna survey, birdwatching techniques, camera trap survey techniques, GPS and GIS techniques, fish survey methods and interact with Fisherman, mangrove Boating and mangrove walk etc. We would like to thank our Chief Guest Mrs Sudha Ramen, IFS., Deputy Director of Arignar Anna zoological Park, Vandalur Chennai for motivational speech also appreciated our internship students and issued certificate, once again we thank, your presence was inspirational for us. Also we thank Dr. S. Jayakumar and Dr. A. Sankari, Assistant Professor and students from A. V. C. College for cooperation. We thank our resource Persons Dr. Swaminathan (GIS) and Dr. Alex (Biodiversity Conservationist). We thank Mr. Kalicharan, Wildlife Biologist, Universal Eco Foundation for valuable efforts especially in practical session. We thank Mrs. Vijayavalli, Secretary and Administrative Officer of Universal Eco Foundation, for coordinating this wonderful programme. Last but not least we thank our entire team (Mr. Sekar, Mrs. Rani, Mrs. Devi, Mrs. Veni and Artist) made this event grand success…

Biodiversity Internship Batch, 2019 from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu …organized by
Universal Eco Foundation.

Birds Census was organized by TN Forest Department at Ossudu and Kazhuveli lakes

On 7th and 8th February 2019, birds Census was organized by Government Tamil Nadu Forest Department, Villuppuram forest division in collaboration with Universal Eco Foundation at Ossudu Bird Sanctuary and Kazhuveli Lake. Around 35 Volunteers were participated from various institutions like French Institute of Pondicherry, Pondicherry Central University, AVC College, Mayiladuthurai, Bharadiyar College of Education, Oorani and few naturalist. During census we distributed birds field guide, data sheet, GPS, binoculars, note pad, pen etc. After finishing the transect line, we all assembled at Universal Eco Foundation office for discussion and data filling. Also we arranged breakfast, snacks and transport for participants. Finally we distributed participation certificate to the volunteers by DFO and FRO. I would like to thank Government of Tamil Nadu Forest Department especially District Forest Officer, Villuppuram District for supporting and encouragement. I thank all the participants from various institutions and colleges like AVC College, Mayiladuthurai, Pondicherry Central University, French Institute of Pondicherry and Bharadiyar College of Education, Oorani. Also I thank Mr Surendar, teacher and naturalist and his team for making this census more effective. Finally I would like to thank Mr. Periyannan, Forest Range Officer, Forester, Forest Guard and protection watchers from Tindivanam Range and members from Universal Eco Foundation made this event grand success.

Word Wetlands Day celebrated by Universal Eco Foundation

World Wetlands Day is celebrated every year on 2nd February. The 2019 theme for the World Wetlands Day as approved by the 54th Standing Committee of the Ramsar Convention is: “Wetlands and Climate Change”. Wetlands are important ecosystem as they provide a number of benefits, not only to the natural environment but also a human being. The aim of the theme is to demonstrate that, wetlands are the planet’s most effective carbon sinks or 
storage and represent an unrealised potential for climate mitigation. In this connection on 2nd February 2019, Government of Tamilnadu Forest Department, Villupuram Forest division & Universal Eco Foundation (UEF) jointly organized “World Wetland Day- 2019” (theme: Wetlands and Climate change) celebrated at Government Primary School, Koonimedu Kuppam. Programme start with Periyar song by Mrs. Juli, teacher, Koonimedu and Mr. Periyannan, Forest Range officer, Tindivanam range inaugurated the function also he gave keynote address. Dr. M. Bubesh Guptha, Director,Universal Eco Foundation (UEF) gave oral talk on Conversation of Biodiversity and Human Responsibility (especially importance of wetland biodiversity and climate change) followed by 
Mrs. Vijayavalli, Secretary and Admin from UEF, speak about importance of water in present situation, Guest of honor Mr. Basant Sharma, Project coordinator of Grow-Trees.com gave a speech stressing the importance of wetland biodiversity and Mr. Sekar, Technical officer, UEF talk about values of environment. Part of the event we conducted drawing competition and cultural programme. End of the programme we distributed prizes to winners and
concluded with vote of thanks.

Also Word Wetlands Day celebrated at Pondicherry Institute of Agriculture, Thavalaikuppam, Pondicherry. Organized by ENVIS Hub Centre, Department of Science and technology and Environment, Puducherry Pollution control committee. As a Resource person, I gave oral talk about Wetlands and Climate change… we would like to thank Dr. Arun, Principal of the Institute, Mrs Nitya and ENVIS Hub team for valuable efforts to made this event grand success…

Kasthurba College for women, Pondicherry is also celebrated World Wetlands Day. Organized by ENVIS Hub Centre, Department of Science and technology and Environment, Puducherry Pollution control committee, Puducherry. During the programme M.r Bubesh Gupta gave as a invited lecture on Wetlands and Climate change. After my lecture we went to field visit (Sankara Bharani river).

Eco awareness program at Kaliveli Bird Sanctuary with koonimedu government school

We conducted eco awareness program at Kaliveli Bird Sanctuary. Organized by Government of Tamil Nadu Forest Department and Universal Eco Foundation (UEF).In this programme we start with field visit at Kaliveli Bird Sanctuary and explain about birds and importance of Wetland. There are 60 students and teachers from Government Higher secondary school, koonimedu were participated. In the event we distributed eco friendly bag, notebook and birds labels. Also part of the event we conducted drawing competition to students, the theme is Biodiversity conservation. Finally we conclude with vote of thank. We would like to thank, District Forest Officer, Villuppuram district, Government of Tamil Nadu Forest Department, sponsored such a wonderful event… Also we thank, Mr Hussain, Resource person gave lecture about Biodiversity conservation. I thank school teachers and students, Forest Department officials and Universal Eco Foundation executive make this event grand success…

Eco awareness program at Kaliveli Bird Sanctuary

Today (28.02.2018) we conducted eco awareness program at Kaliveli Bird Sanctuary. Organized by Government of Tamil Nadu Forest Department and Universal Eco Foundation (UEF). In this programme we start with field visit at Kaliveli Bird Sanctuary and explain about birds and importance of Wetland. Also we explained about, bird identification methods. There are 65 students and teachers from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Marakkanam were participated. In the event we distributed eco friendly bag, notebook and birds labels. Also part of the event we conducted drawing competition to students, the theme is Biodiversity conservation.

After lunch break Dr. Bubesh Guptha, Founder Director gave power point presentation about biodiversity conservation and human responsibility with special reference on Kaliveli biodiversity. Sri Periyenna, Forest Range Officer, Tindivanam Range, Tindivanam gave oral talk about conservation of Sea turtle conservation and conservation about Kaliveli Lake. Finally we conclude with vote of thank. We would like to thank, District Forest Officer, Villuppuram District, Government of Tamil Nadu Forest Department, sponsored such a wonderful event… Also we thank, Mr Hussain, Resource person gave lecture about wetland conservation. I thank school teachers and students, Forest Department officials and Universal Eco Foundation Executive make this event grand success..
